Arvada CO

The Rich History Of Arvada CO

The city of Arvada resides in two Colorado Counties, Jefferson and Adams. The population, in 2020, was over 124,000 with about 121,500 in Jefferson County and a little over 2,800 residing in Adams county.

Arvada came to be as many of the Colorado cities did with the search and discovery of Gold in the 1850's.

Many prospectors on their way to the California Gold Rush traveled through Colorado and would test their luck in the streams and find some treasure.

In the beginning it usually wasn't enough to keep them from staying, but as California became increasingly crowded and a bit played out, they came back.

This was the case in Arvada, in the summer of 1850, when a prospector from Georgia named, Lewis Ralston, on his way to the west coast dipped his sluice pan in a stream and found about 6 grams of gold. Ralston's companions named the stream Ralston's Creek in his honor. The next morning they all headed out toward California.

By 1859 Ralston was back in Colorado with a group of prospectors searching the streams and also the hard rock deposits in the mountains.

They soon discovered Arvada had riches besides the Gold. That was rich fertile land that some of the prospectors started farming and found an eager market for their crops among the new prospectors staying in the area. As the population grew, so did the farms in the valley. At one point, Arvada was called the "Celery Capital of the World"

Exterior House Paint Colors

Alright, so you've decided it's time to

paint the house.

Whether it's been a few years, starting to look worn in a few places, maybe the local HOA says it's time, or you just feel like it, now comes the fun part, picking the color(s)

When it comes to choosing house paint colors, there are a few things to consider. The first is the type of home you have. If you have a traditional style home, you'll want to choose colors that are classic and timeless.

If you have a more modern home, you can be more daring with your color choices. The second thing to consider is the climate you live in; if you live in an area with a lot of sunlight, you'll want to choose lighter colors to help keep your home cool. However, if you live in a more temperate climate, you can choose richer, deeper colors that will complement your home regardless of the weather or time of year.

Can You Paint Your House Any Color?

A Few Things To Consider

Yes, however there are a few things to consider and a very important factor is if you live in a HOA neighborhood, the association usually has some guidelines for you to follow.

Sherwin-Williams website has a great tool to help you see what those colors are and if you want a different color(s), you probably have to speak to your HOA manager. This usually takes a few weeks, so plan ahead.

Sherwin-Williams HOA Color Guide Tool

An interesting trend in colors is how it varies from different parts of the country. These assessments come from the
Sherwin-Williams blog:

Color preferences even vary by regions of the country.

The high altitude desert climate of the Rocky Mountain region offers cool air and soaring mountains and the colors lean toward crisp greens like Acacia Haze and Forest Wood , muted grays like Summit Gray, harder grays like Granite Peak, all to bring out the adventuresome spirit of the area.

Interior House Painting Colors

Are you tired of looking at the same old

boring walls in your kitchen?

Do you keep moving your living room furniture around but still can not seem to get that perfect look you want? Maybe changing the colors of your walls is exactly what you need.

Maybe it is just that inner child in you pushing you to test those desires for change. We all change over time and what better place to demonstrate that than the interior walls of our home where we spend the majority of our time.

Here’s where you can let your creative juices flow.

The colors we pick for the interior of our home can reflect what we think and feel about a particular room or what we want others to think and feel about it.

The safest and probably most popular colors to pick are the whites because they go with most other accent colors and colors of accessories.
